AUTHENTIC ARTIST
'The Artist is a sacred permeable thing' Paul Oertel
Tender Age is a research and development project, supported by Escalator, Arts Council England and the Theatre Royal, Bury St Edmunds. Tender Age brings together older people and young adults to explore creatively what divides and what connects these generations. Themes for exploration include: ‘Do You See Me’? ‘Can You Hear Me?’ ‘If You Touch Me…’, and what younger and older people think of each other!
A core group of artists (led by Theatre Royal Associate Artist Kath Burlinson) are offering a series of workshops in autumn/winter 2011. The workshops will be fun, creative, informal events, involving drama, music, movement and discussion. They are open to young adults (18-25) and older people (65+) regardless of experience. No background in performing arts is necessary and all exercises will be adapted to the participants' needs, abilities and mobility.
Workshop Info: The first workshops take place on Nov 6, 2011, at the Guildhall, Guildhall St, Bury St Edmunds. There are two workshops, one from 10am to 1pm and the second from 2pm to 5pm. Cost: £5. Anyone interested in attending a workshop should contact info@authenticartist.co.uk for further details. When emailing please specify your preference for morning or afternoon. Each workshop has space for 5 younger and 5 older people. Further involvement in the Tender Age project may be possible and everyone will be invited to a sharing of the research and development on the evening of January 10th, 2012, at the Guildhall.
