The Discipline of Freedom: Expression and Creativity: Week Long Intensives with Paul Oertel

In May 2009 I organised the first UK Discipline of Freedom: we offered another workshop in 2010, two in 2011 and two in 2012.  In 2013 we are offering three workshops, offering 30 artists the opportunity to work with Paul, while staying on a magical Scottish island, or on a beautiful organic farm in Wales.

For more details please see, where you can also see the work of Paul’s wife and creative partner, choreographer Nancy Spanier, who will  join us at the workshops

Paul Oertel is dedicated to creating art that transforms people's lives and to helping each person discover their unique and authentic creative self.  I have been working with Paul since 2005 and he inspired my own Authentic Artist workshops.

Finding form for creativity is Paul Oertel's lifework. Whether the vehicle for that creative expression is voice, song, music, writing, visual arts, dance, movement or theatre, Paul provides subtle yet provocative guidance towards the uncovering of each individual's authentic, embodied, artistic passion through a refined method of disciplined freedom and spontaneity.

As a catalyst for change, a sophisticated and inventive educator, and a multidisciplinary performing artist with over four decades of experience, Paul assists people in finding their own inner artistry. Whether it is the ego or a lack of craft that obscures a student's authentic expression, Paul brings compassion and clarity to one's artistic emergence.

Please note that Discipline of Freedom workshops are by invitation only.  If you are interested, please enquire first about Authentic Artist workshops.

'The Artist is a sacred permeable thing' Paul Oertel
