Fair Work

FAIR WORK STATEMENT

The Authentic Artist Collective CIC fully supports the Scottish Government’s vision to be a leading Fair Work Nation.

The Fair Work Framework (2016) offers the following definition:

‘Fair Work is work that offers effective voice, opportunity, security, fulfilment and respect; that balances the rights and responsibilities of employers and workers and that can generate benefits for individuals, organisations and society.’

The right to be heard is a key aspect of Fair Work. AAC strives to ensure that all employees, volunteers or workshop participants are welcome to express their views and are in a position to influence company practices.  AAC is committed to developing good practice in relation to Fair Work and to ensure that if any issue arises, robust processes are in place. AAC’s EDI policy outlines the steps to be taken should an issue emerge. The existence of the AAC Community of Listeners offers the opportunity to engage with an independent consultative body.

AAC strives to embed a company culture and ethos where all employees, workshop participants or volunteers contribute to a safe and supportive environment, are open to different ideas/approaches and collaborate with one another.

AAC is aware of the precariousness of freelance work and endeavours to mitigate this by issuing clear contracts with payment dates and for paying promptly. AAC offers fees that match or exceed union agreements for the theatre sector. AAC endeavours to provide maximum notice in the event of any change to logistics or delivery. AAC offers flexible and family-friendly working practices wherever possible and does not use zero-hours contracts.

AAC is committed to monitoring the effectiveness of policies and procedures and to staying up to date with developments.

This policy should be read alongside other company policies including AAC Equality, Diversity and Inclusion and Equal Opportunities.
